EAPG 1894 Covered Dome Butter Cheese Dish by Dalzell, Gilmore & Leighton Co. Early American Pattern Glass butter keeper in the No. 57D (OMN) pattern, AKA Corrigan produced by Dalzell, Gilmore, & Leighton Co. c. 1894. This is a wonderful pattern with raised bullseyes on both the top of the lid and bottom of the plate. Pattern includes raised circular ridges and is on top exterior of lid and bottom underside of plate. Maker: Dalzell, Gilmore and Leighton Glass Co.(Findlay-OH, Company Operated 1888-1899)Pattern: No. 57D, AKA CorriganCirca: 1894 IntroducedSpecial: UV Reactive, Uranium Glass, Glows under blacklight.Made in the USA Condition: Very good used antique condition for being over 130 years old. There is a flake chip on the underside of the plate. Two smooth deep lines on lid may be manufacturing issue. ————————- Excellent Undamaged Antique Condition means that while a listed item has no post-production damage such as chips or cracks, it may have discernible minor wear from usage and/or nesting (stacking). This wear will be mentioned and/or highlighted with its own photo if over-moderate. IMO there are very few pieces of antique glass that don’t have an imperfection of some sort, whether from production or use, but that doesn’t impact the presentation. Production conditions in the early 1900s were dirty and dangerous; there was no « Quality Control » as we know it now. Issues resultant from these conditions include:-Air bubbles in the glass that were not squeezed out during pressing.-Heat checks which are internal rifts filled with air (which is why you can see them), usually from a burst air bubble.-Inclusions in or on the surface of the glass, such as ash and cinders.
