It lifts a small sliver of wood, about a 1/32” thick by 1” long, to create a shallow slot, allowing a fine finish nail to be hammered into the slot. Water based glue is then added to the slot, the sliver laid back down and the excess glue is wiped away. This tool was used on a custom home to blind nail beautiful spotted gum wood imported from Australia. It turned out amazing and then the designer had it stained dark, almost like paint. Condition: good used condition although for best results the chisel should be sharpened.
