eBay William Brownfield salt glaze relief molded white and gilt jug pitcher is in the Argos pattern. There is minimal lose to the gilt decoration on the Greek key band around the top and the stylized leaves on the body. The bottom has the Brownfield circle mark with W.B, 24, Cobridge, Argos, and the English registry diamond for April, 1864. The addition of Son to the Brownfield company name didn’t occur until 1873. Measuring approx. 7 ½” tall, this 140+ year old jug is in very good, clean antique condition. There are two tiny rivets at the lip which were probably left when a pewter lid was removed. They could be carefully removed which would leave the attaching holes exposed as seen on so many of these jugs.
